The Andes

The Andes mountain range runs from the north to the south of Ecuador. Highland cities which lie in the valleys offer a mild, fresh climate all year round, with an average temperature of 53.6° - 64.4° F. The rainy season begins in October and ends in May.

There are ten provinces in the highlands, connected by the Panamerican highway. This arterial road allows the visitor access to a variety of interesting and spectacular areas including The Avenue of the Volcanoes, with its snow capped mountains, forests and lakes, home to a variety of animals and plants unique to this area.
